5020 Ball Rd., Syracuse, NY 13215
kdwyer@townofonondaga.com | 315.469.0483
Hours: 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Monday – Friday during tax collection periods (Aug. 15 – May 15);

Off-season hours: 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., Tuesday – Thursday (May 15 – Aug. 15)

WHAT WE DO: The Receiver of Taxes collects town and county property taxes as well as taxes for the six school districts located within the town: Jamesville-Dewitt, Lafayette, Onondaga Central, Marcellus, West Genesee and Westhill.

TAX COLLECTION TIMEFRAMES: County and town tax bills are sent at the end of December and school tax bills are sent in early September to properties not in escrow.

METHODS OF PAYMENT: Personal and bank checks, money orders, online payments and cash are accepted however cash payments are strongly discouraged. Please note that there is a service charge for online payments. That amount will be displayed before you complete your payment.

DIRECTIONS FOR ONLINE PAYMENTS: To pay your bill online by credit card or e-check, go to https://onondaga.go2gov.net/faces/searchBySitusAddress.jsp. To easily locate your property, do not use a prefix or suffice in the Street Name box. For example, if you live on NE Townline Rd., only type Townline.

PARTIAL PAYMENTS: Partial payments are accepted if there are no delinquent taxes due. The first payment must be made on or before the initial due date. The partial payment can be in any amount for town and county bills, and for all of the school districts EXCEPT JAMESVILLE-DEWITT. Jamesville Dewitt requires partial payments of at least 50% of the amount due.

NON-RECEIPT OF TAX BILLS: If you do not receive a tax bill, please contact us in advance of the payment deadline and we will send you a duplicate bill to help you avoid potential late penalties. We make every effort to ensure you receive your tax bill, however it is ultimately the responsibility of the property owner to know when taxes are due and payable.

NEW PROPERTY OWNERS: If you move up to 90 days preceding mailing of tax bills, please be sure to notify us to prevent bills from being forwarded to the previous owner of the property and to avoid potential late payment penalties.

THIRD PART NOTIFICATIONS: Property owners who, due to illness or age, wish to have a third party also receive a copy of their tax bill may do so by contacting our office.

EXEMPTIONS: As a property owner, you may be eligible for various exemptions that could reduce the amount of taxes you pay. Information on exemption programs is available through the Town Assessor’s Office (315.469.3216).
